TERMS TO KNOW WHEN PLAYING TEXAS HOLDEM
POT: The total amount bet, and eventually won on a single hand.

CHECK: Passing the option to bet to the next player

BET: Adding chips to the pot. All other players must match this to stay in the hand.

CALL: Matching a previous player's bet in order to see next card or stay in the hand.

RAISE: Adding to a previous player's bet to increase the pot size (money or chips in pot). All other players must "call" this bet to stay in.

ALL IN: in a no limit texas holdem game, a player can bet all of his remaining chips on any hand at anytime when it is their turn.

FOLD: Throwing your cards away to get out of that hand

FLOP: The flop is the first three community cards that are dealt out on the table for the players to use. You are allowed to use the best five cards.

TURN: This is the fourth community card that is dealt on the table for the players to use. This is also known as fourth street.

RIVER: This is the fifth and final card that is dealt out on the table for players to use. This is also known as fifth street.

BEST POSSIBLE HANDS ACCORDING TO RANK

ROYAL FLUSH: straight flush ace high suited. example: ace, king, queen, jack, and ten of same suit.

STRAIGHT FLUSH: 5 cards in a row suited. example: 45678 of same suit.

4 OF A KIND: 4 matching cards non-suited. example: 7777 of different suit.

FULL HOUSE: A pair and 3 of a kind. example: 22333

FLUSH: 5 cards of the same suit not in order. example: 59JQA of same suit.

STRAIGHT: 5 cards in a row non-suited. example: 12345

3 OF A KIND: 3 matching cards non-suited. example: 888

2 PAIR: 2 sets of matching cards. example: 7766

1PAIR: 2 matching cards. example: kk
